Itinerary

Day 1: Kigali City Tour and Transfer to Musanze

A Native Expeditions representative will collect you from Kigali International Airport, your hotel or another agreed location.

Depending on your arrival time, visit selected Kigali attractions such as the Kigali Genocide Memorial, local markets or artisan shops.

After lunch, travel through Rwanda’s hilly countryside to Musanze, near Volcanoes National Park.

If time allows, an optional visit to the Gorilla Guardians Village can be arranged.

Overnight: Musanze

Day 2: Mount Bisoke Hike

After an early breakfast, report to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters for registration and a hiking briefing.

Transfer to the trailhead and begin the guided climb through farmland, bamboo forest and higher-altitude vegetation.

The trail leads to Mount Bisoke’s summit and crater lake at approximately 3,711 metres. Weather permitting, enjoy views across the Virunga landscape before beginning the descent.

Return to your lodge for dinner and a well-earned rest.

Overnight: Musanze

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking and Return to Kigali

After an early breakfast, return to the park headquarters for your gorilla trekking briefing.

Accompanied by experienced guides and rangers, trek through the forest in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family. Trekking time varies depending on the gorillas’ location, terrain and weather.

Once the gorillas are located, spend the permitted time observing and photographing them.

Return to your lodge to change and have lunch before travelling back to Kigali. Because the trek may take several hours, book a late-evening flight or arrange an additional night in Kigali.
