Itinerary
Day 1: Kigali and Transfer toward Virunga
Meet your Native Expeditions guide at your Kigali hotel or Kigali International Airport. If time allows, visit selected Kigali attractions such as the Kigali Genocide Memorial or Kimironko Market. Site visits should be arranged respectfully and according to opening hours.
Continue toward the approved Rwanda-DRC border crossing. Complete immigration formalities and proceed with the authorised local team only if the route and park operations have been confirmed.
Check in near Virunga National Park and receive any required briefing for the following morning.
Overnight: Virunga or Goma area
Day 2: Virunga Gorilla Trek and Return to Kigali
Begin early with breakfast and transfer to the authorised park assembly point. After a ranger briefing, continue to the assigned trailhead and start the guided trek in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family.
Trekking time depends on terrain, weather and the gorillas’ location. Other forest wildlife may be encountered, but no species sighting is guaranteed.
After the trek, return to the lodge to freshen up and check out. Cross back into Rwanda through the approved border and continue to Kigali. A late-night flight or additional Kigali night is advisable because delays are possible.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to arrive in Kigali the previous night?
Yes, that is strongly recommended. The first day includes a long cross-border transfer and cannot safely accommodate a late arrival.
How long does gorilla trekking take?
The complete activity may take several hours. Duration depends on the gorillas’ location, trail conditions and the group’s pace.
Is the gorilla permit included?
Only if explicitly stated in the quotation. Permit availability and validity must be confirmed before payment.
Is a same-day flight from Kigali advisable?
A tight connection is not advisable. Border, road and trekking delays can affect the return time.
