Best Time to Visit DRC
June to September: Generally the drier period around Kinshasa and in several western areas, often providing more manageable conditions for excursions and outdoor exploration.
December to February: A shorter drier window in parts of the east that may favour forest travel where parks and routes are officially open.
Rainy periods: Rain brings dense green scenery but can make forest trails, roads and river logistics more demanding. Conditions differ considerably across this enormous country.
Plan around access, not weather alone: Park operations, permits, transport and security guidance are more important than choosing a month purely by rainfall. Every itinerary should be reconfirmed close to travel.
