Itinerary



Day 1: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Your Native Expeditions guide will collect you early from Kampala or Entebbe for the journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Stop at the Equator for photographs and optional souvenir shopping before continuing through western Uganda. Arrive at the park in the late afternoon and settle into your lodge.

Day 2: Kasenyi Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Safari

Begin the day with an early game drive across the Kasenyi Plains.

Search for lions, elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, warthogs, hyenas and other wildlife. Leopards may also be encountered, although sightings are less common.

After lunch, take a boat safari along the Kazinga Channel. Look out for hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes and numerous waterbirds along the shoreline.

Overnight: Queen Elizabeth National Park



Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking and Crater Lakes

After breakfast, travel to Kyambura Gorge for a guided chimpanzee-tracking experience.

Descend into the forested gorge with an experienced ranger to search for habituated chimpanzees. Other possible sightings include vervet monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, baboons and forest birds.

Later, explore the crater lake region and enjoy panoramic views of the park’s volcanic landscape.

Day 4: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

Leave Queen Elizabeth National Park after breakfast and travel to Lake Mburo National Park.

In the afternoon, take a boat safari on Lake Mburo. Look out for hippos, crocodiles and waterbirds such as African fish eagles, kingfishers, herons and cormorants.

Overnight: Lake Mburo National Park



Day 5: Lake Mburo Game Drive and Return to Kampala

Begin the final day with a game drive through Lake Mburo’s rolling savannah.

Search for zebras, giraffes, impalas, elands, buffaloes, topis, waterbucks and warthogs before beginning the return journey.

Your guide will drop you at Entebbe International Airport, Kampala or another agreed location.

Does the safari include chimpanzee tracking?

Yes. Chimpanzee tracking takes place in Kyambura Gorge. Sightings cannot be guaranteed because the chimpanzees move freely within the forest.

Is this safari suitable for families?

Yes. The itinerary can be adapted for families, although age restrictions may apply to chimpanzee tracking and certain guided activities.

Can I see tree-climbing lions?

Tree-climbing lions inhabit the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Ishasha is not included in the standard itinerary but can be added when planning your safari.
