Explore forest, acacia woodland and the seasonal lakeshore while looking for elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, monkeys, hippos and varied birdlife. Flamingos may be present when water and feeding conditions are suitable.

After a picnic lunch and further game viewing, continue to the cooler Ngorongoro highlands for dinner and an overnight stay.

Overnight: Karatu or the Ngorongoro highlands

Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater

After an early breakfast, enter the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend approximately 600 metres to the crater floor.

Spend the day viewing wildlife within the caldera. Common sightings may include wildebeests, zebras, buffaloes, gazelles, hippos, hyenas and lions. Elephants and black rhinos are also present, although sightings cannot be guaranteed.

Enjoy lunch at a designated picnic site, continue game viewing and later return to your selected accommodation.
